A Journey of Faith and Art: Debra's Story
In my late 20s, I found myself trapped in corporate America, an unfulfilling marriage, and a cycle of weekend parties. Life felt empty and directionless.
At 29, I discovered self-improvement and positive thinking, igniting a spark of hope. I began exploring spirituality, moving from agnosticism to a belief in God, though skeptical about Jesus. This led me into New Age philosophies while still reading the Bible and anything else I could gel my hands on.
In 1997, I left Boston for New York City, pursuing voice-over work, modeling, and singing, with art as a hobby. Living alone in the East Village, I spent three years journaling, reading, and working in the service industry. During this time, I experienced a profound revelation about God and the power of words.
In 1999, I gave away almost everything and began traveling, professing what I wanted to attract into my life. This led to financial difficulties and even a brief stint in a Florida county jail.
After exploring various churches, I finally found a home in a 'born again' Christian church in New Jersey, where I committed my life to Christ.
In 2000, I discovered a brush pen that became the catalyst for my unique art style, combining words and images. This became the foundation of my Art Ministry, which I see as a silent way to share biblical truths and promote healing.
As a born-again Christian, I now use my art to help people experience God's Word. I own and operate ‘COLORME’ Art Spa, teaching my art style and helping others explore their creativity to find joy and purpose.
My art has been used for fundraising and to add a unique element to events. I teach weekly at a coffee shop in Scottsdale, AZ, in a group called "Coffee - Art - Dreams," focusing on experiencing God's Word through art.
I travel globally, speaking, teaching, and graphic recording at conferences and retreats. I live in Scottsdale with my loving husband and two wonderful children, I am grateful for the journey that led me to combine my faith and art in service to others.
